Week 6: Who's Pulling a Boner this Season? AFC side

Don't think the AFC isn't pulling its share of boners.

Biggest Disappointment Kansas City Chiefs. Herm Edwards bring his legendary clock-management skills to helm an organization that many thought was ready to take the Next Step. Wildly inconsistent over five games, the Chiefs have only put up 87 points. They have a difficult schedule, their starting QB had his frontal lobe collapsed in the first game (on a shoulder-to-helmet blow while the QB was sliding feet-first, for which no penalty nor fine was assessed), and lack an identity. They will continue to struggle. Which team will show up to play San Diego?

Stay the Course The Colts barely beat the Jets, Titans, Jags & Giants. They are still undefeated and they have a very easy schedule. As I predicted. And, as I predicted, this is what will bite them in the ass:
Rush yards: 557 (3.8 average) Opponent rush yards: 834 (5.2 average). This translates into the Colts losing the time of possession edge: the Colts are 23rd in the league in time of possession.

Worst Team, Period: The Raiders are so very bad. Luckily they've got all that team chemistry working for them. This is why they're losing: They average 12.5 points per game while giving up 31.5 points per game. Ouch. Their average QB rating is 49.2, which goes well with their one rushing TD. They are 31st in sacks allowed, 32nd in sacking the opposition. I could go on like this for a while. Trust me -- this is a team that has already given up. If they don't beat Arizona next week, they'll have to wait for Houston on Dec 3rd to get a crack at a team almost as bad as they are. I think someone needs to change the diaper on that old lady in the track suit.

Worst Division: Not a huge shock, but the AFC East is a crappy division. After the Pats, the best team is the Jets who are 28th in the league in scoring defense. What does that say about the other teams? Plenty. The East is 10-13 overrall, and 9-11 against the conference, which is the worst but not so glaring. If you remove the Pats, the division is chugging along at a .333 winning percentage (by comparison, the NFC North is even worse -- without the Bears, the Norse are jamming a stick up their ass and calling it a date: .310 winning percentage.)

You Suck!

I'm as more nauseated by the Raiders than most, owing to the fact that I'm stupid enough to watch most of their games straight through. I must tell you however that I'm coming to the conclusion that they'll win a couple. The logic being that, while they don't have enough pride, poise, passion or any other laudable trait to be a good team, they have enough of an air of depressing banality, that they'll win a couple this year. This team will be reviled in the collective memory to be one that couldn't even have enough resolve to stay disinterested for the entire year.
