Holy Shit!

While leading the Philly Eagles, Donovan McNabb torched Washington over the last decade. As of today, he is the new starting QB for my favorite team.

Totally unexpected. I'm in shock, and simply don't know what my feelings are yet. This not only changes my team, but it flips the entire division on its ass.

McNabb is on my team? That's like dogs and cats, living together.

So much for Shanahan's calm, deliberate building of a foundation through patient drafts and player development.

We have five months to chew on this and all of its implications. But I can definitely say that, for the first time in a long time, I will be looking forward to playing against the Eagles.

Holy shit! I mean that most sincerely.

McNabb's record as a starter: 92-49-1.

Washington record over that span (since 2000):
70-100.

Here's the game I've been playing in my head...Donovan McNabb will be the best quarterback Washington has had since...

Theisman.

The question is, can he stay healthy for the whole year? Because trading Campbell seems very likely, which leaves Gross Rexman one heartbeat away ...

I think my favorite thing is that one of you two, if not mistaken, just wrote something about Shanahan needing a aging hall of fame QB to win the big one.

One aging hall of fame QB? Check.

That was me!

And that's were I kept ending up, too, Andrew. It just seems far too far back to go, but when you start running through the list, it get's sad pretty quickly.

Rypien won with the greatest O-line in NFL history, and he had a great year. That team had everything, and Rypien did make plays. But to talk about a great QB, we can all agree that one season doesn't cut it. Ditto for Doug Williams, who didn't do much before or after the Superbowl run in 1987.

I should add that the addition of McNabb 100% contradicts everything I wrote about Shanahan's strategy when they picked up RB Parker.
